Take several phone photographs showing the covers, spines, boxes, and approximate quantity. That is genuinely enough to begin.

The archive assesses age, titles, condition, completeness, duplication, and preservation value — and tells you plainly what you have.

Choose what happens next

Depending on the material, the collection may be purchased, contributed for preservation, shipped, picked up locally in Arizona, or respectfully declined.

Selling a collection

Collections and individual issues we can use are purchased outright at agreed prices, with terms documented in writing before anything ships. An evaluation is an informed opinion, not a formal appraisal, and we will tell you honestly when material is common.

Contributing for preservation

Some owners simply want the material preserved rather than discarded. Contributed collections are accessioned, documented, and credited — or kept anonymous — exactly as the source prefers.

Estates and uncertainty

Handling an estate, facing a deadline, or genuinely unsure? Say so. Guidance costs nothing, and “tell me what this is” is a perfectly good starting point. Our estate guide covers the common situations.

Provenance Revue is a privately operated archive. Contributions are not represented as tax-deductible charitable donations.

Provenance Revue treats collection inquiries as private. Names, addresses, photographs, and collection details are not published or shared for marketing without written permission. Anonymity in our public records is available to any source, and your inquiry will be reviewed by the Provenance Revue Collections Department — details in the privacy policy.

Asked and answered

Do I need to know what the magazines are?: No. Rough dates, a quantity guess, and photographs are enough; identification is our job.
Does the collection need to be in good condition?: No. Worn, incomplete, and damaged material can still have research or preservation value. Tell us about mold, water, or smoke honestly — hazards change handling, not necessarily interest.
Is there any cost or obligation?: No. Initial reviews are free, and nothing about submitting commits you to anything.
Do you buy collections?: Yes. Some collections are purchased; others are contributed for preservation, and some we redirect to a better home. Terms are always documented in writing before anything changes hands.
Can I remain anonymous?: Yes. Anonymity in our public records is available to any source, permanently. Say so in your message or during follow-up.
What happens to my photographs?: They are used only for evaluation, never published or used in marketing without written permission, and deleted on request.
