Content Policy

Provenance Revue documents men’s magazines published before 1970. That record includes adult material, and we present it as what it is: historical publishing, handled editorially.

What we display publicly

• Public pages favor covers, typography, printing details, advertising, and contextual photography of the objects themselves.
• Explicit interior imagery is not displayed on general-audience pages, homepages, or navigation surfaces.
• Content notices appear where a page’s material warrants a practical warning, written plainly and readable by screen readers.
• Every image asset in the archive carries an editorial visibility rating; images rated for restricted display appear publicly only as neutral placeholders with metadata.

What we do not do

We do not sensationalize this material, and we do not disguise it. The site avoids leering language and novelty framing; the historical record does not need either. We do not use AI-generated imagery presented as historical artifacts. We do not publish private or speculative personal information about models, photographers, or other people who appear in the record, and we respond carefully to inquiries from those people and their families — see Copyright & Takedown.

Audience

The site is written for adults: collectors, researchers, families handling estates, and readers of publishing history. It is not directed to minors. Mature-context pages are labeled, and visitors can navigate the archive’s bibliographic and historical layers without encountering explicit imagery.

Research access

Material that is not appropriate for general display remains available to approved researchers under our research access terms, with watermarked derivatives, defined purposes, and citation guidance. Preservation is the reason this material survives; controlled access is how it becomes useful.
